Venus Stations Direct Conjunct Juno

VENUS STATIONS DIRECT

HER CURRENT CURRICULUM

After 44 days in Retrograde Venus at 12° Leo finally stations direct conjunct Juno and loosely Black Moon Lilith.

This configuration is squaring Jupiter

Juno is a little spoken about Asteroid. Probably because her archetype is seen as boring or even outdated. Though I find her fascinating.

In Astrology, Juno speaks to us about the quality of our partnerships. She is a significator of marriage and commitment.

She is the point in the zodiac where the Feminine principle unites with the masculine in service to “building an empire”.

She pointedly represents the principle of “relatedness” through the vehicle of a committed partnership and consummation.

Therefore she exhibits attributes of both Scorpio and Libra.

Demetra George says in the book “Asteroid Goddesses”; “the semi sextile between Libra be Scorpio links the signs, but also implies friction in attempting to join and utilize their different resources.”

Juno certainly struggled with her inability to actualize the full potential inside of her partnership to Jupiter.

From a psychological perspective, Juno can be understood through contrasting her with fellow asteroid Goddess Vesta.

Both utilize the sexual energy of Venus.

While Vesta is a virgin, whole unto herself. Juno is the more like Scorpio with her sexual energy expressed outwardly. Her mythology inextricably linked to her mate.

We cannot fully understand Juno without understanding her passion fueled, jealousy laced, partnerships with Jupiter.

We find within her archetype the influence of Libra, wherein she frequently fights for justness and a specific balance inside of marriage.

But she is so much deeper as an archetype.

In the Greek Pantheon Juno is Hera.

As the wife and sister of Jupiter, she is confident and in command of herself, and more often than not also in command of others.

Jupiter and Hera have an infamous Marriage. Him, a constant, and volatile, philanderer and Pleasure seeker.

Jupiter has an infamous wandering eye. The more difficult and complex the hunt, the more invested he is in attaining his prey.

Though interestingly enough, he always returns to Juno. Probably because she went to great lengths to keep the drama for her sensation seeking husband, at full throttle. But not only that, she reveled in her status of wife of the top God. She seemed born for that position. Taking great pride in her family, and assisting her husband in affairs of state.

Though their relationship is marked by climactic scenes of rupture and repair.

At one point she left him, seemingly for good and she went into hiding. Without his mighty wife by his side, arguing with him and berating him, Jupiter felt lost and desperate.

So distraught was Jupiter for her return, he and his advisers devised a plan to win her back.

Utilizing her deep possessiveness and jealousy against her, Jupiter put out the word that he was to marry again. He invited all of the great family’s. Then fashioned a “beautiful girl” out of a statue, draped it in veils of fabric, and paraded it down the Main Street in a wedding parade.

On hearing the rumors, she promptly returned, found the statue and tore away the veils, only to discover her rival was made of stone. Realizing she’d been fooled she let out a great roaring laugh, and they were reconciled for a while.

This shows us the nature of their multifaceted love affair. Quarreling, deceiving, straying, reconciling, betraying, and loving each other, ad infinitum.

A modern day read on Juno might look something like this…

Juno consciousness is most obvious in older woman, where the full impact of their natural authority and dignity can be felt. She seems born to rule.

In her full bloom, she emanates self assurance and unwavering rectitude.

The mature, responsible, powerful woman who is holding it all together, including and most importantly in her love relationship…

More than any other goddess type, she is aware of her position in society. The quintessential “Good Woman” or even further distilled, the quintessential, “Good Wife”

Nowhere is a Juno woman’s pride and glory most obvious than at a traditional family wedding when one of her daughters is getting married. After months of preparation, the big day arrives and it is she that presides over it all. Proudly standing in the front pew… picture of perfection, power, and respect.

We all know this archetypal family.

The high quality woman who holds it all together. With the not so great spouse that through her own strength and fortitude she elevates in society. Publicly overlooking his faults. While behind closed doors; mayhem.

But archetypes are multivalent. How else might we understand the Juno woman.

Like many myths about “pairs” we can also hold that their partnership is an internal marriage that can result in an inner psychic split if we aren’t cognizant of it.

On one hand we have responsible Juno, Goddess of Home and Family. Who symbolizes these qualities. Juno holds a certain steadfastness, even though we frequently find her resentful that it’s her partner that seems to have all of the fun, while she’s left holding it all together.

And Jupiter who is the epitome of creative power and ingenuity. His shape shifting, ceaseless pursuit of the ineffable ideals shows us that he is a symbol of the mysterious, fluid, fertile, potent, power of creation which cannot bound or contained within worldly structure or rules. In my Venus Path, it is Jupiter who rules the Sacral Chakra.

He is movement and dynamism, while Juno is static holding.

These deities are in fact two side of the same coin. We need a balance between these two for a life of flourishing.

With Venus & Juno in Leo, Squaring Jupiter in Taurus, this configuration begs the question, where are we in our along the spectrum between these two.

Are we resentful or judgement of other people’s pleasure pursuits while we live a life of restriction?

Or are we more on the hedonistic side of the spectrum, spending more time chasing the objects of our desires, unable to build, hold, and maintain a steady container for our lives.

It’s interesting to be evaluating this question at the outset of her new cycle, as mirrors the energetic shift we are in the midst of between cycles.

Moving from the Capricorn Cycle - The Static Feminine, to the Leo Cycle - The Dynamic Feminine.

It’s as though the Stars are reminding us of the need for balance between the two, so we don’t go off the deep end with either.

*For me Juno is a fascinating character. There is so much depth and wisdom to mine with her. I’ve barely scratched the surface with this post.
