Mapping Polarities

New Moon In Virgo

The Dark moon is all about integrating the experiences we’ve been given through polarity over the course of the month. It is through the process of integration and refinement, that we truly tap into the gifts of this pause. The ascent of the moon from waxing to full represents one polarity, and from full to dark again is the other side of that polarity. Weaving a story of shadow and light. The dark moon is the rest and digest period of the cycle. A time to sink in and receive from beyond the veil. Mystic messages whispered from the Lady of the Lake.

Polarity is part of the moon’s story this month.

She is directly opposite Neptune in Pisces. Their conversion is about illusions, false things appearing real, where we want to escape vs where we are. This is really amped up by the trine to the Boneyard, which is what Adam Sommer calls Jupiter, Saturn, & Pluto in Capricorn. I love this reflection because it refers to these planets being in the home of our ancestors and legacy building. This makes it an excellent time for future visioning, and dream seeding when combining energies with Jupiter, who has finally stationed direct, but indicative of creating problems if there isn’t discernment when it connects with Pluto and Saturn. Currently this bitter sweet symphony of planets is supported by the tribe of our ancestors, and our soul family who are waiting to be called on across all timelines and dimensions to guide us in our efforts.

You see, life, society, and culture, offer up an endless menu of polarity. We see it in our political systems, in our homes, in major decisions; homeschool, or public, medicine or herbs, homebirth or hospital, organic or good value, do we live in the city or a rural area? We need to grapple with these seemingly irreconcilable polarities in order to find equanimity. Polarity; shadow, and light, are neither good nor bad, they are merely separated by matter of degrees. What is bad for us, is never contemplating this endless menu, and bringing it into a unified field of truth. Living too much within either polarity pulls us out of alignment. And when we are out of alignment we can’t make real choices or live in right relationship to anything. By mapping our shadow and light we can pull them towards our center and use that to anchor us in uncertain times. In the current socio/cultural paradigm where “light based ethics” has been substituted for a deep spiritual life the only real way to experience the inner harmony and inner authority beget of a true spiritual practice is by digging into the endless darkness of shadow.

Shadow is the cloud of sediment in the pond of our soul that is being stirred by the polarities. We need this dark moon period of stillness to allow the sediment to settle so we can find clarity and truth amongst all of the experiences we’ve taken in. Where any guidance we need is allowed to bubble up to the reflective surface so we can gaze upon it and contemplate how it wants to be integrated. Polarity is necessary for alchemy. And soul alchemy is essential for evolution.

The moon itself is a pattern generating machine, a repository of memories and emotions that doesn’t just reside in our mind, but in our field itself. The moon, by going dark for a short time allows us to receive the unfiltered energy of the sun. We are getting pure lightfood frequency without distortion.

In my lineage we do a type of open eyed meditation with a mirror. One of objectives it serves is to train the initiate to see beyond the reflection into the holographic nature of light. That is to say, to empty from the constant carnival hall of mirrors that serves as our reality and discern what is real. It is the best way I’ve discovered yet to understand the relationship between the sun and moon, and the nature of life. In the period of the dark moon, we touch into our undomesticated wild spirit. We get out of empire thinking, and root into non-ego identified sovereignty. Where we can commune with our truest essence self. Because we are on a mission for truth. Not more story and distraction. Not MY interpretation, not yours either. We are looking at how we are energetically serviced by a Virgo dark moon and how this is going to bring you closer to the rarefied Truth with a capital T; equanimity.

Virgo is very discriminating, good with details, organization and analysis. An earth based sign she is directly related to this life here, feet on the ground, 3-D reality. Virgo loves being of service, and, as she is one embodiment of Demeter or the Great Mother, will separate each individual grain of corn from its husk. She represents the nurturance of the collective through food and is directly related with our abundance. The shadow side of Virgo is 3-D conformity, over attention to details, and she has a tendency towards perfectionism. In shadow she is unable to enjoy the lusciousness of life because she is bogged down with getting things “right” and can be preoccupied with being “good”. She can become obsessed with labeling things, good, bad, right, and wrong. Using only representational language for communication which inhibits creative expression. How can we use this moon to throw off cultural conditioning and really allow in a state of flow, and embrace the conscious dreamer? How can we rewild our souls? Become closer to our wild essence self? Invite the muse over for tea. Reject what is being instructed to us from the collective and get curious about the nature of Truth. Reflect on the ebb and flow of the tides. Dance

with our shadow in really healthy and profound ways that bring a depth of meaning to our lives that break us out of our mundane routines. How are we consciously writing the mythic stories of our lives without restraints or shackles? What inner gnosis is stepping forward to be alchemized this moon?

If you’d like to deepen into the Polarity of the Virgo-Pisces axis, these are some points of interest to help direct your meditation.

*Pairs lifted from Hiroki Niizato’s site

“Virgo and Pisces: 2 Types of Intellect”

Like the other mutable pair, Virgo and Pisces represent certain types of knowing and intellect:

Virgo’s knowing is grounded in details you can see and measure, whereas Pisces’ knowing is based on feelings and intuition.
Virgo uses facts and linear thinking (e.g. logic) to solve problems, while Pisces relies on parallel processing (e.g. visualization) and leaps of intuition.

Virgo excels in a field where the correct answer is already available, while Pisces tends to do better in a field with no clear-cut definitions of right or wrong.

In terms of problem solving, Virgo is interested in improving the current situation – no improvement is too small. Pisces is more interested in a universal solution that resolves big problems.
Left alone, Virgo’s focus tends to become too narrow and rigid, whereas Pisces’ focus tends to become too broad and impractical.

Begin the practice of mapping polarity this moon and the evolution of this work will be greatly supported next month with the Libra moon, as Libra is the embodiment of balance.
