Bridal Chamber Gateway

Today, the Moon meets Venus at 18° Leo 8:43 pm EST to create the Rose Gateway of the new Cycle.

What an apt and beautiful time for this first meeting at the Soul Star Chakra. The Soul Star Chakra is the place where the personal meets the transpersonal. (Venus is not visible, so this is not technically the 1st Gateway of Descent in my Path)

Today is the Feast of Assumption. Mother Mary’s Feast Day. A beautiful wink and nod to the Rose Lineage and its greater connection to Sirius and our Solar Mysteries.

Leo has an association with King-dom. And Mary is the Mother of a Solar King.

A King represents Royalty, Nobility, Radiance, and Sovereignty.

In many ways, each King must “make his own reign”.

This is therefore, the birthplace of individuality, and the fated path of individual maturation in service to how we reign over our own lives.

Leo, is often associated with creativity, innocence, and play. While it is all those things, it’s not really about creating something “out there”, that other people can applaud, but more profoundly, in the words of Liz Greene, “Leo seems to describe the development of unique individual essence, and the quest for its source.”

With Venus and the Moon imprinting here, it calls us to a more yin-like creation of essence through the process of touching into our own gnosis.

Allowing our hard outer shell to be penetrated, revealing a glowing inner nectar. But how?

At the beginning of the retrograde cycle we investigated a very unique chart.

Cast your mind back to July 22nd, when I posted the chart that comprised a “Mystic Rectangle” and a “Yod”.

As we think about the symbolism of the Rose, it evokes images of a gorgeous blossom supported by a stem of thorns.

A Yod is a pointed triangle shape that emulates a thorn, and tends to behave like one.

It is Rumi who reminds us that “The Roses rarest essence lives within the thorn.”

Jesus, Mary’s son, wore a crown of thorns.

The mystic rectangle holds a challenge with an almost easeful solution when we lean into the mystical side of reality.

We can use this moment as a check-in point of the retrograde. How is our challenge progressing? What mystical truths have been offered here? How does putting on our “crown of thorns” nurture the emergence of essence? And how are we being nourished and transformed by this essence?

For me it’s looking like being slayed by my own visibility. Showing up more. More authentically, and allowing all the little voices that tell me it’s safer to stay small to be nurtured by this magical substance; my own unique essence.

It has been a salvation of sorts. An exchange of thorns for a gleaming gold crown of light.

I’ll post the retrograde chart in the comments. I’d love to hear about how this retrograde is unfolding for you? How your thorns are yielding mystical experiences, and turning them into medicine? How you are stepping into your own essence more? How you are playing or creating with it?

She does not believe that astrology is static, and therefore works with clients to develop strategies and practices that allow them to transcend challenging aspects of their natal chart.

She lives on the Shores of Lake Erie with her husband, four kids, and Cat, Oscar (the grouch).

These days, when she isn’t interpreting a natal chart, or translating the stars for her astrology blog, you can find her engaging in one of her favorite pandemic pastimes, unraveling her inner “good girl”, cultivating the ability to thrive in the deep, dark, unknown, or playing her favorite game of identifying fun paradoxes called “two things are true at once”.
