Full Moon in Aquarius
The dwarf planet Eris was discovered by Astronomer Mike Brown in 2003. And true to the Archetype, The Goddess of Chaos and Discord, she burst onto the scene causing a huge upheaval in the astronomical community. Not only was her discovery the impetus for Pluto’s demotion, but even the process of naming her was a chaotic misadventure.
Each time a new major planetary body is discovered, it brings new insight and awareness for humanity. When Uranus was discovered in the 18th century, he brought with him huge advances in technology. Neptune, in the 19th century, ushered in a new paradigm of spirituality, and advances in medicine and pharmaceutical drugs. And Pluto gave us Jung, and depth psychology in the 20the Century. Not long after Pluto’s discovery we had WWII, and the way we viewed humanity’s dark underbelly began to transform. We’ve since shifted how we view and treat psychological disorders.
Looking at just the naming piece of Eris’ arrival, gives us insights into what her message for humanity is at this time. Before landing on Eris, several names were proposed for her. One of them was Xena (like “Princess Warrior”) and another was Lila, like the Hindu concept of the “Divine Play”, or the male and female energies that underlie the flowering of the cosmos. This is a very advanced, and complex concept, but it helps us understand Eris not only as a Warrior Goddess, the sister of Mars, but as The Primordial Mother of All Creation. A Goddess of Truth, Reality, and Intentionality.
For all who tune into the deep energetic current of the Universe, those who channel the divine, it has become obvious that we are in a Paradigm shifting moment on the Great Turning of The Wheel. The old structures of Dominator culture are crumbling away, and new ways of looking at the world are emerging. Science is confirming what only looked like fiction just a decade ago. Our perception of the Mystery itself is transforming. We are beginning to understand it as an essential nutrient rather than something to be harnessed, suppressed, or conquered. There is something lurking in the deep that is nipping at our consciousness, demanding to be acknowledged. The ascendency of “that thing”is stiring deep within the void. And once we embrace HER, our journey towards wholeness and integration will officially begin. Because there is no wholeness without acknowledging that we might fall off of the edge of chaos at any moment. The thrill of the unknown has finally caught up to us, and loving the inherent meaninglessness of it all is key to our freedom.
In Laura Walker’s book “Eris, Archetype of Shadows, Crisis, & Awakening”, she talks about the Eris Archetype across different lineages. In Sumer, Erishkagel was the first of the recorded “Dark Goddesses”. Given the underworld as her domain, it is written on the cuneiform texts that those who visited the underworld would never return. I have ample evidence from my own life that this motif is absolutely true. When you find yourself wandering the barren landscapes of the shadowlands, you will not return as the same person who descended. Mirrored in collective, we will not emerge from these times the same humanity who entered.
That was perhaps a long, meandering kind of way to arrive at what the stars are scribing at this very moment. With two full moons in Aquarius this month, we are definitely being pointed to look towards the future. Towards what we are building, while paradoxically, simultaneously, being asked to press on with our targeted demolition project. To not get stuck in the deep polarities being offered, but rather to embrace integration.
As I sit writing this, the Moon has just crossed over Pluto at 12:34pm EST while making a square to Eris in Aries. The Moon will go on to be at exact fullness at 1 ° of Aquarius just a few hours later at 10:37pm EST. The Full Moon is sitting just between Pluto at 25° Capricorn, and Saturn at 10° Aquarius. While Pluto continues its Square to Eris in Aries.
In other words, it’s BIG, FULL, and DENSE… The field is rife with incoherent, free floating fear. We may be plagued by old nightmares, and boogeymen under the bed.
The news is becoming increasingly bleak as Mercury comes into opposition with Pluto. Promising a new plandemic, and visions of Martyr’s sacrificed on the altar of cultural narrative.
And as Pluto opposes the Sun, feeling like an imposter in your own skin could be a theme that arises, if only to help you reclaim your capacity to be seen deeply, fully, in vulnerability and authenticity.
It would be easy to be swept away by all this if not for the fact that the Sun moved effortlessly into Leo yesterday to help us find our collective Roar. Big hearted love really is a super power. So don’t shy away from shining as brightly as you possibly can. Each and every one of us claiming our radiant divine inheritance is a necessary part of our evolution at this time.
And so, we are being called to have the courage to meet the moment fully. So often when we find ourselves in the arena of groundlessness, with the great primordial mother poised to swallow us whole, we are tempted to cower under our spells of protection. Instead, let us stand in our power, and plant our revolutionary flags in the womb of darkness. It doesn’t just take courage to face monsters from the deep, but it takes courage to let the familiar ones go. We’ve grown accustomed to the same old villains. And we are clinging to them, afraid of what we might be inviting in, if we welcome in the new, and unknown.
I’ll close with this quote from Marianne Williamson, and claim it as the prayer of this Full Moon. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
