The energetic stamp at this normally noisy point is surprisingly still.

The Moon isn’t making any connections aside from her conjunction with the Sun, and her telling square to Juno, Asteroid of Lovers.

Marking us with something more contemplative. Something still. Allowing us an opportunity to almost stew in the energies.

We have a few planetary configurations to contend with. There's the Mars Jupiter conjunction in Aries.

Mercury in Taurus trine Pluto in Capricorn, and Sextile Neptune in Pisces.

But in comparison to the heavy eclipse energy. This is welcome change.

In the Tarot, Gemini is ruled by the Lovers Card.

The lovers card traditionally denotes a choice between two desires.

A major turning point, between something mundane, or boring. And something risky and sensational.

Or rather, traditionally speaking, a choice between light and dark.

For myself, I am sitting on the precipice of this choice.

Only the dark is showing up as the unexplored, rather than something evil tempting me away from safety.

It’s showing up as unknown adventure, that will bring me outside the cover of sameness.

It’s Not our black and white narrow definition of light and dark. Tempted by evil, or shielded by angels.

It’s something wider, more all encompassing. It’s existential. Do we remain in our current comfortable circumstances, or do we take a risk, and plunge ourselves head first into the mystery?

When we look to Mercury, the exoteric ruler of Gemini, and Venus, the Esoteric ruler, the choice asks us to bridge head and heart. Mind and gnosis. Analysis and embodied knowing.

Are they in alignment? If not, I’d wait for more information to come in.

This is always a place of swirling dualities. Seemingly divergent pieces of information.

Can we look beyond the intellect to find symbolic meaning to help enlighten our choice? Can we use the body as an Oracle of truth in a place so reliant on our wits?

While the choice point is what we find in traditional Tarot: Rider Waite addresses a different fundamental question.…

A question we can ask ourselves now.

What functions do love and sex serve in a person’s life? And what great meaning can we find in the dynamic that plays out when two people join their hearts and bodies?

Waite thought these contemplations were exhibited in the philosophical treatise that speaks to “the way the truth and the life”.

While we could ask ourselves these questions about our 3-D life; as occultists, we know that the anima and animus exist inside of us as the sacred marriage.

With Venus in The Solar Plexus gateway of Descent, ruled by Mars, perhaps it is our own inner balance of masculine and feminine that is asking to be explored.

Or, even more nuanced still, maybe we are being called to heal and attune these energies from the inside out. From our outer 3-D world, to our innermost being.

Could it be, that this very inquiry, will help inform us at the crossroads we now find ourselves? I know all of these questions work for me. They are so prescient to the work my soul is calling me to do at this gateway. To heal the relationship I have between the archetypes and frequencies Venus, and Mars embody. Perhaps it's the hermaphrodite (Mercury) of the Zodiac who can be our guide to help us mediate any disharmony.

We can see this in description on how the Law of Karma operates. Karma is based on the concept of polarity, by which the universe maintains its balance.

In that, the faculty that initiates the process is the “will” (Mars) with the whole causal phenomenon structured in “desire” (Venus).

Desire can be seen as the application of the will in such a way as to direct a person’s energy towards the the manifestation of an impulse or an idea. (Mercury).

Damascena Tanis

Damascena is an Archetypal Astrologer, Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner, and The Facilitator of the Transformative Journey through the Mandala of Venus’ Wisdom, called “Sky Dancer”.

She is a passionate devotee of the ever unfolding mystery. As an expert observer, a trait she developed as an only child, she regards herself as both a student of life, and decoder of the cosmos.

Skilled at recognizing invisible patterns, and picking up on subtle shifts in the collective, she gets a thrill from uncovering and revealing the hidden threads that are woven together to create our paradigm.

Her passion for this existential detective work aligns well with her unique approach to one on one client work, as she helps others to discover the building blocks of their archetypal blueprint, and mythic overtones. She does not believe that astrology is static, and therefore works with clients to develop strategies and practices that allow them to transcend challenging aspects of their natal chart.

She lives on the Shores of Lake Erie with her husband, four kids, and Cat, Oscar (the grouch).

These days, when she isn’t interpreting a natal chart, or translating the stars for her astrology blog, you can find her engaging in one of her favorite pandemic pastimes, unraveling her inner “good girl”, cultivating the ability to thrive in the deep, dark, unknown, or playing her favorite game of identifying fun paradoxes called “two things are true at once”.
