Libra Equinox

It’s a weird tension to hold now that I see it.

I used to want to save the world.

Now I just want to LIVE.

I used to be a huge, gigantic, excruciatingly painful empath in my twenties.

Seeing people suffer just hurt. I had no capacity to be with it. So I wanted the world to change.

I wanted it to be easeful, painless, love, light, and rainbows.

Ironically I even used to “fight” to make it that way.

There’s this interesting theory in Astrology around aspects. Aspects are when planets connect geometrically.

A trine is a 120° aspect=easy flowing energy.

And a square is a 90° right angle. It means the energy can be instigating. Not easy.

Opposition= another hard aspect. 180°. Two opposing planets. Head to head. Again, not easy.

The book I had been studying said something like: when a person only has open flowing aspects in the chart, they aren’t spurred towards growth. That “hard” aspects can be a good thing for the soul.

In other words, ”we often grow through friction”

At the time, this was revelatory information.

You mean it wouldn’t be beneficial from an evolutionary standpoint if things always just flowed? If they were always easeful? If there was constant progress towards the light?

No.

The equinox points lay across Aries and Libra. Aries and Libra themselves are the quintessential opposition in the chart.

Me in relationship to other. Self in relationship to not self. Light, birth, in relationship to Dark, The dying of what was sparked in the spring.

Libra is a sign of high mysticism.

It’s also a soul training ground.

Where we encounter the friction of “not yet integrated” material.

It’s a place where there is not yet balance and harmony. Yet we need to practice these things to evolve.

In regards to “balance”, Libra is full of dynamism. The kind of balance we find here is more akin to the action of juggling than the static equal weighing we first think of when we encounter the scales.

It’s moving with the dynamic flow of life.

Mapping polarity to find the still point in the center.

Equanimity that shifts as we evolve.

It’s holding the tension between, the more “just” and beautiful world we know is possible, and understanding that shadow and light are necessary to create beauty.

It’s shining a light on the dark and dusty places. And allowing the places faded by the light to be renewed in the fertile dark.

It’s a reminder that stasis = death.

Today, in this celebration of shifting inward, towards the dark half of the year. Involution.

We are called to remember that it is through friction and decay that we evolve.

Through the squares and oppositions that we grow.

The same way we visit the gym to train our body.

We encounter tension in life to train our soul.

The fall equinox point is where the majority of our underworld myths begin. Demeter and Persephone. Inanna and Erishkagel. The Agricultural myths that state: half the year is bountiful and full of growth, and the other half fallow, for regeneration.

So here, we CELEBRATE the dying of the light. The fact that we “get” to have hardships for our refinement.

So now my wish isn’t to save the world.

My wish is to love life. To be an adequate witness to its unfolding. To hold space for it ALL.
