THE NARROW DOOR, LIBRA AND THE DEEPER THING

THE NARROW DOOR- Libra and the deeper thing. *scroll down for video access*

I wanted to take an opportunity to deepen our understanding of what Libra season holds for our lives. When I read the little synopsis of Libra I see her explained as a sign of love and relationships. Summed up as a feel-good sign. And while all of this is true in that she is a Venus ruled sign, there is so much more here to discover.

Libra is a Cardinal sign. She sits at 00 degrees West on the world Axis. This means the High Holy Days that we celebrate each year happen at the 00 degree mark of the four Cardinal signs. Spring Equinox is 00 Aries, Summer Solstice is 00 Cancer, Fall Equinox is 00 Libra, and Winter Solstice is 00 Capricorn.

High Holy Days have a deep mystical meaning. Just like the High Holy Days of each world religion. We are given an opportunity to contemplate (Saturn) the deeper mysteries. These High Holy points create the World Cross, and fix our position in the Solar System and very specifically tell us a lot about how Earth relates to the Sun. And how the Sun relates to us. The Supernal Path

With Libra, just the word “Fall” gives us a clue as to what her mysteries hold. At the Fall Equinox we turn our attention towards involution. Night Overcomes the Day. And Persephone’s begins her yearly descent to the underworld.

With Libra holding the scales of harmony, and justness, it is the time of year we are asked to consider our own mystical journey, and our spiritual unfoldment in this lifetime.

Libra is of course governed by Venus, but also by Saturn, as Saturn is exalted in Libra. Why? Because Libra is a sign related to Karma and Saturn is the Lord of Karma. As the Lord of Karma, he invites us towards introspection, to literally judge ourselves.

In many spiritual circles it has become taboo to talk about things like “right and wrong”, “good and evil”, “truth and untruth”. We live in a world that is always attempting to put us to sleep. And thus, phrases like “truth is all subjective”, “it’s all relative” and “there is no such thing as right and wrong” are advanced in spiritual spaces. Along with the notion that “love and light are all you need”. “Just think positive” I am here to firmly reject that, along with Saturn, and Libra. That is spiritual mumbo jumbo.

If you look at the world around you, you are clearly able to discern for yourselves that there are such things as right and wrong, truth and untruth, good and evil. A true initiate knows that shadow work, and the process of involution, are as important to their work in each lifetime as the path of ascendancy. Narrow is the door that leads to freedom.

And so, with Libra, we look towards the scales of Justness. I have begun using the word Justness rather than Justice because Justice has been co-opted by political movements and that is not what I am pointing towards.

Synonyms for Justness are: courtesy, duty, goodness, honesty, veracity. - From the Latin word Veritas. I particularly like the word veracity, it means genuineness, and truthfulness.

The connections hear make me squeal with Delight. In Roman mythology, Veritas means Truth. There is also a Goddess of Truth, named Veritas. She is a daughter of Saturn (called Cronus by the Greeks, the Titan of Time, perhaps first by Plutarch), and the mother of Virtus. Saturn in exalted in Venus’ sign. And here we find a connection to Veritas, The Venusian Apparition of Truth.

Justness has bite, it is full of substance, no fluff.

What we are concerned with here is the question, am I moving through the world in a way that is Just? Am I promoting Justness in my work and relationships?

We are also keen to involve ourselves in a process of judgement. We judge the work we have done, inspect our values, meditate on whether or not we have been hooked by good, or evil, right or wrong, truth, or untruth. And then make the necessary adjustments in a process of soul refinement. All the kind of work we see when Venus and Saturn get together.

Libra gives us an opportunity to shed identity, and come into contact with our essence self. To investigate the deeper thing that we are doing here. To plunge the depths of our experience, to burn with feeling and vitality. To interface directly with the mystery. Libra’s message in support of this work is, “your quiet presence is enough”.

This is in a sense, a portal of purification. An opportunity to look deeply on personal standards of soul-hood, but not in a way that is rigid, or dogmatic. There is an invitation to personal Gnosis, to see yourself as an eternal being that exists along a spiral of continual involution and evolution across a multitude of lifetimes. To work deeply with your own Karmic Path. And if the goal is to move forward on the Wheel of Fortune, this is the perfect time to take inventory and make adjustments.

She is a passionate devotee of the ever unfolding mystery. As an expert observer, a trait she developed as an only child, she regards herself as both a student of life, and decoder of the cosmos.

Skilled at recognizing invisible patterns, and picking up on subtle shifts in the collective, she gets a thrill from uncovering and revealing the hidden threads that are woven together to create our paradigm.

Her passion for this existential detective work aligns well with her unique approach to one on one client work, as she helps others to discover the building blocks of their archetypal blueprint, and mythic overtones. She does not believe that astrology is static, and therefore works with clients to develop strategies and practices that allow them to transcend challenging aspects of their natal chart.

She lives on the Shores of Lake Erie with her husband, four kids, and Cat, Oscar (the grouch).

These days, when she isn’t interpreting a natal chart, or translating the stars for her astrology blog, you can find her engaging in one of her favorite pandemic pastimes, unraveling her inner “good girl”, cultivating the ability to thrive in the deep, dark, unknown, or playing her favorite game of identifying fun paradoxes called “two things are true at once”.
