Navigating Thresholds

NAVIGATING THE LIMINAL EDGES

When Venus out on Far Side of the Sun, she is furthest from Earth. The Sun's Rays occulting her influence. Making it more difficult to feel her presence. In this phase, she is unequivocally pushing us into the unknown. Towards the Threshold of Thresholds. Worlds between worlds.

Add to this, Pluto's Station...

It's always deeply felt in the interior realms for me. A vague sense of displacement. A sense that things are slipping through my fingers. Add to this, an impression that my immediate access to that ever present, living, source of love has been severed. My trust and faith muscles stretched beyond their normal capacity.

Of course, not everyone will feel this.

But for those of us who do...

What do we do when things feel like they are coming apart a bit? Like the rug is being pulled out from beneath us, and “holding it all together” is taking way more energy than it usually does? When our normal ability to "handle things", to bounce back, or to be optimistic about the future feels out of touch?

This is the practice mat for me in regards to self holding and the path of deep trust.

Trust that the Mystery Herself is the Great Mother, and at no time am I actually cut off from her benevolence. Even if “it seems that way”.

It’s the depth of trust that says even if I can't feel her, I am always, always etherically connected to Her.

Quantum entangled, if you will. We are always being held in a state of profound grace. We cannot be abandoned. Not by Her.

However, separation is the deepest wound that lives at the heart of humanity.

Loss of connection.

It is intrinsic to the collective pain body and can evoke a sense of almost existential grief. Where we feel a tinge of longing for something elusive rather than tangible. Something that lives out at the periphery that we cannot quite grasp.

In this period, it is common to feel a sense of loss for something we can’t put our finger on. It’s just there, operating in the background. Low grade sadness. A feeling of “incompleteness” or that “something is not ok here”

If you are feeling this way, I want to reassure you that it’s a normal occurrence during Venus’ Superior Conjunction Phase.

Which makes this a phenomenal time to do Underworld work and get in touch with the deeper thing underneath. The nameless, wordless, nonlinear, inexplicable, parts of us that feel as though they might have been seeded in another time or dimension. Parts of us that up until now have been conveniently exiled, but they are turning up the volume on their needs now. They demand recognition.

Through Paradox Venus reveals her Underworld Curriculum.

She is asking us to work with and hold paradox, all over the place. To stop boiling our inner and outer world down to false binaries.

But rather to hold Two Truths at once.

The apparent truth, and the deeper truth.

Source, and Anti-source are one.

Her quality of “here, not here”.

Separate, but “can never be separate”.

Along with the mysteries of death, She also reveals through the quality of something eternal, an everlasting, ever renewing life.

And it is TRUST and relaxing or surrendering into the nature of cycles, having faith in their benevolent grace, that we are carried through the darkness.

She asks a lot of us in this period. Remember, the Throne room is where Erishkagel is giving birth.

In order for us to give birth to what we came here for….

To hold the BIG LOVE….

To sit FIRMLY on our THRONE..

We must surrender known attachments and projections that are preventing Her current from moving through us.

She asks us to Surrender our preferences to how things “should be”.

To give up entitlements. And paradoxically, to stop settling for table scraps because it feels safer.

To open instead of close. To expand into the deep end of the pool rather than cling to the edges.

So we might finally step into a more expanded iteration of ourselves.

And the inexhaustible connection we all have to the benevolence of the Universe.

What exists beyond separation. Beyond paradox. Beyond duality.

Birth, Grief, Surrender, and Trust, go hand and hand. As a former birth doula, and mother of four, one of whom now lives beyond the veil, ask me how I know these things are inexorably intertwined…

What we ultimately conceive in the throne room initiation, is the ability to hold more Truth and LOVE. Because we've made space in the letting go. The falling away. The things we've honored and put to rest. The dying.

Truth and love are the substances of healing, wholeness, and authenticity.

The avenue to “have” these things are paradoxically: feeling into our longing, & desire, and then feeling the grief and pain that comes when the fantasy breaks. This work is EXPANISIVE. And transformative. I know it sounds “hard”. But it’s actually the most loving work we can engage in from an psycho-spiritual perspective. To be fully conscious in the gap between fantasy, longing, desire and TRUTH.

Venus Underworld Work is deep, profound, life & death affirming work.

Many deep bows for those who are in the trenches, on the Path of Deep Trust.

Damascena Tanis

Damascena is an Archetypal Astrologer, Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner, and The Facilitator of the Transformative Journey through the Mandala of Venus’ Wisdom, called “Sky Dancer”.

She is a passionate devotee of the ever unfolding mystery. As an expert observer, a trait she developed as an only child, she regards herself as both a student of life, and decoder of the cosmos.

Skilled at recognizing invisible patterns, and picking up on subtle shifts in the collective, she gets a thrill from uncovering and revealing the hidden threads that are woven together to create our paradigm.

Her passion for this existential detective work aligns well with her unique approach to one on one client work, as she helps others to discover the building blocks of their archetypal blueprint, and mythic overtones. She does not believe that astrology is static, and therefore works with clients to develop strategies and practices that allow them to transcend challenging aspects of their natal chart.

She lives on the Shores of Lake Erie with her husband, four kids, and Cat, Oscar (the grouch).

These days, when she isn’t interpreting a natal chart, or translating the stars for her astrology blog, you can find her engaging in one of her favorite pandemic pastimes, unraveling her inner “good girl”, cultivating the ability to thrive in the deep, dark, unknown, or playing her favorite game of identifying fun paradoxes called “two things are true at once”.
