Scorpio Lunar Eclipse

Artist Unknown, Happy to credit if someone else knows.

SCORPIO LUNAR ECLIPSE, MAY 16, 2022 @ 12:14 am. At 25° Scorpio.

“The sun, moon and Earth will align Sunday night for a total lunar eclipse on May 15-16 which occurs when the Earth moves into place between the sun and the full moon. As a result, the Earth casts a giant shadow across the lunar surface, giving the moon a striking reddish hue — which is why lunar eclipses are also referred to as blood moons. The name of my Astrology practice, Red Moon Revival, comes from lunar eclipses. If you read the philosophy page on my website, you’ll see why I’m so passionate about working with these energies, not just at eclipses, but all the time.

Depending on your location, a partial lunar eclipse begins May 15 at 10:28 p.m. EDT (0228 GMT on May 16). The Blood Moon will reach its peak at 12:11 a.m. EDT (0411 GMT) on May 16 before the lunar eclipse ends at 1:55 a.m. EDT (0555 GMT). The penumbral moon phase of the eclipse will begin about an hour earlier and end about an hour after the partial eclipse, according to Time and date .com.” - according to Space . com.

It’s also a Supermoon, because the moon is closest to Earth in its orbit, so it appears bigger and brighter. In other words, if you’ve been meaning to catch an eclipse, this is a great opportunity to do so. It will be visible in the Americas & Europe as a full eclipse, and in New Zealand and Australia as a partial eclipse.

If we remember, just two weeks ago, we spoke about Solar eclipses. We mentioned the fact that all eclipses are related to how karmic stories are playing out in our lives. And how eclipses become the nodes in which the editing function happens. With solar eclipses, we are often looking at new beginnings.

Therefore, Lunar eclipses are often about endings. A story, or the arch that your life has been following, may suddenly change shape. And karmically we begin to shed everything that isn’t in alignment with the new story that wants to be lived through us.

Scorpio is ruled by Pluto in modern astrology and is Mars’ Dirunal (night home) in traditional astrology. Either way we slice it, Scorpio is DEEP, visceral, real, the ruler of taboos, full of Eros, accepts nothing less than the truth, and it rules the action of “Secrets being unearthed”.

Saturn, The Lord of Karma is uniquely squaring the nodal access in Aquarius, triggering the beginning or ending of these evolutionary plot lines.

For me, the moon (the lunar part of this eclipse) is sitting on top of my Venus at 25° Scorpio. The Ascendant of the eclipse chart is conjunct my ascendant. And the MC of the eclipse chart is on my Sun and just a few degrees away from my MC. In other words, I’m bracing myself for a major turning point in how my Scorpio/Venus expresses itself in my life and leadership. Have you looked at how this eclipse is triggering your chart? At how your eclipse story is shaping up?

In my own chart I have Mars trine Neptune, and in the Eclipse chart we have Mars conjunct Neptune at 23 & 24° Pisces. This happens to be one of my favorite Archetypal combinations. It denotes…(from the Archetypal Universe by Renn Butler) “a Spiritual and creative vitality, magnetic warmth and charisma, a gentle and sensitive strength, effortless effort, an instinct for being rather than doing”. However, like all planetary pairs, there are shadow emanations. And here in Pisces one of the most important is that we don’t fall under the hypnotic spell of the charismatic “False Prophet”. With all things Neptune in Pisces, discernment is key.

Uranus is still a major player with this eclipse portal. I use a wide “orb” when it comes to the nodal access. With Uranus just 7° degrees away from the North Node, his action is causing the air to crackle and vibrate with electric intensity.

I take the view that eclipses open a dragon hole to other dimensions. The veil between worlds becomes thin, and we don’t know what is on the other side. In a different way than what we reference at Samhain (Halloween). For me, It feels like an inauspicious time to do magic or ceremony. Rather than harness energy to make big moves, the Scorpio South Node Eclipse is a time to turn inwards, draw your loved ones close, and allow the cosmic energies to pass through you.

However, if Mars conjunct Neptune is calling you to do inner work, you may want to focus on the themes of shadow and light, personal narrative, mythopoetic context, and Karma/Evolution.

In a few weeks time, we will be able to see how this eclipse portal that represents body and soul, accumulation and purging, our resources and other peoples resources, Venusian & Martian themes, has begun to reshape our lives.

If you are having an intense go of the energies, it might be a good time to schedule a consultation to help bring in more clarity.

She is a passionate devotee of the ever unfolding mystery. As an expert observer, a trait she developed as an only child, she regards herself as both a student of life, and decoder of the cosmos.

Skilled at recognizing invisible patterns, and picking up on subtle shifts in the collective, she gets a thrill from uncovering and revealing the hidden threads that are woven together to create our paradigm.

Her passion for this existential detective work aligns well with her unique approach to one on one client work, as she helps others to discover the building blocks of their archetypal blueprint, and mythic overtones. She does not believe that astrology is static, and therefore works with clients to develop strategies and practices that allow them to transcend challenging aspects of their natal chart.

She lives on the Shores of Lake Erie with her husband, four kids, and Cat, Oscar (the grouch).

These days, when she isn’t interpreting a natal chart, or translating the stars for her astrology blog, you can find her engaging in one of her favorite pandemic pastimes, unraveling her inner “good girl”, cultivating the ability to thrive in the deep, dark, unknown, or playing her favorite game of identifying fun paradoxes called “two things are true at once”.
