Gemini Full Moon

Gemini Full Moon

I’ve written quite a bit about Mars Retrograde in Gemini. And of course, in true astrological fashion, the Full Moon took place exactly conjunct Mars at 16° Gemini in his new cycle phase.

Full Moons illuminate, they exaggerate, for the purpose of “shining a full light” on something that previously existed in the shadows.

Gemini is the home “of the many”. The multiplicity. It is an area of the chart that has so many moving and disparate pieces of information, and Gemini can see every single side. The highest expression here would be the drive to synthesize all of the moving parts in an effort to see the bigger picture, rather than attaching to any one single piece.

As an Air sign ruled by Mercury, Full Moons here can be hyper stimulating. High volume, and very mental. It would be no surprise if you are feeling overwhelmed with swirling opinions and perhaps information overload.

Add in Mars, the planet of War and Aggression, and we have a signature ripe for wicked tongues, and words that sting. Along with a "quick to the draw" energy, that hasn't fully sat with the deeper thing. Contemplation isn't something this Full Moon is digging. Though, it's probably it's best medicine.

Full Moons are actually a Sun/Moon opposition. Therefore they always fall across an axis. Gemini’s counterpoint in the Zodiac is Sagittarius.

In 2020 the nodes lay across the Gemini Sag axis. Which brought up issues around media, information, truth, collective philosophies, etc. Lot’s of infighting, and different characters vying to lead. This Full Moon feels strangely reminiscent of those times.

Sag is BIG energy, with big characters, full of hubris, who want to play on a big game board. It also has a ton of beautiful qualities, but on a Full Moon, what will be most pronounced is the BIG stuff, as Sun illuminates the Moon from this Sign.

As revisit some of the themes from this axis, questions around what is true, the media, information, etc are arising once again.

This cycle we’ve been having philosophical debates about AI and Censorship. All worthy topics, which are ruled, in part, by this axis. “Debate” in and of itself is a very Sagittarian Pastime. The fact that the debate is not straightforward, but rather multi-faceted, is a function of Gemini’s influence.

Instead of a candid, direct debate on the goods and evils of AI. We’ve heard the range, from its soul sucking potential, to who owns the rights to the intellectual source materials. The tone and subjects of the debates have meandered over many different terrains. Hitting on many prescient topics, worthy of our attention. And yet, we may feel dizzy from the pace at which our need to be informed is moving with the times.

Equally the issue of censorship has taken on more sides than just “for or against”. We’ve seen debate up, down, and sideways with this topic as well.

All in all, this Full Moon is a doozy. Causing a lot of friction and upheaval in the collective. Heating it to fever pitch yet again. If we remember last year, the Gemini Full Moon took place during the Omicron Surge. The virus was proliferating in “Varients”. Variants are ruled by Gemini.

With Gemini Full Moons generally being the last Full Moon of the Year, and Sag having to do with “the town square”, and the philosophical forays society takes, it feels fitting that the Gemini Full Moon holds the energy of the Yearly round up. Where we review where we’ve been and talk about where we are going.

Damascena Tanis

Damascena is an Archetypal Astrologer, Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner, and The Facilitator of the Transformative Journey through the Mandala of Venus’ Wisdom, called “Sky Dancer”.

She is a passionate devotee of the ever unfolding mystery. As an expert observer, a trait she developed as an only child, she regards herself as both a student of life, and decoder of the cosmos.

Skilled at recognizing invisible patterns, and picking up on subtle shifts in the collective, she gets a thrill from uncovering and revealing the hidden threads that are woven together to create our paradigm.

Her passion for this existential detective work aligns well with her unique approach to one on one client work, as she helps others to discover the building blocks of their archetypal blueprint, and mythic overtones. She does not believe that astrology is static, and therefore works with clients to develop strategies and practices that allow them to transcend challenging aspects of their natal chart.

She lives on the Shores of Lake Erie with her husband, four kids, and Cat, Oscar (the grouch).

These days, when she isn’t interpreting a natal chart, or translating the stars for her astrology blog, you can find her engaging in one of her favorite pandemic pastimes, unraveling her inner “good girl”, cultivating the ability to thrive in the deep, dark, unknown, or playing her favorite game of identifying fun paradoxes called “two things are true at once”.
