Mars in Virgo-Opposite Neptune in Pisces…

A traditional read on this signature would be: in it’s positive expression, when Mars meets with Neptune, our spiritual life becomes activated. We touch into spirit, and can move confidently on any inspiration we receive. Spiritual revival’s happen under this transit.

The negative expression of this aspect can produce false prophets, and people with messiah complexes. Additionally it has the potential to leave us feeling as though life is empty and meaningless. Resigned, defeated, and uninspired. Physically lethargic with little motivation.

But the deeper interpretation that keeps coming through for me, is the “Illusion of power” or the ‘power of illusion”. In which we are stress testing reality. The entire theme of “Power” and it’s many manifestations, is attempting to exhaust us, whereby we become tempted to give it away.

This is coming through based on a combination of transits that have already happened and are yet to culminate. I want to focus on what Mars here might trigger.

We have multiple narratives and storylines vying for our attention. Anytime Neptune is making contact with other planets, the Hindu concept of Maya moves to the fore. One translation of the Hindu word Maya is “a magic show, an illusion where things appear to present but are not what they seem.”. And on the 3-D level I can confidently say we are witnessing a mass hypnotic magic show. Now which side of the polarity is on stage is anyone’s guess. But the competing narratives indicate we are operating within an environment that has some degree of unreality.

Furthermore, from a spiritual perspective, the concept of Maya is presented to adherents as the changing nature of 3-D reality that is divorced from spiritual constants, or truths, and thus, unreal. Spiritual truths, or rather universal laws, are inherently unchanging. Things like you have a body, polarity, paradox, frequency, nature, the soul and spirit, eternity, the wheel of fate; these are unchanging. Maya itself is also a spiritual constant.

I am personally feeling the “power of illusion” playing out in my body. The immense machine we are up against if we want to stay firmly rooted in what is real is pressing against me physically. It’s difficult if you are plugged into mainstream narratives. And the paradox is, they are almost impossible to avoid.

However, I will say, I think the reach of this power is weak in the face of the Neptunian concept of unity. In the face of unity that mechanism quickly changes to the “illusion of power”. Something only has power over us if we give consent to it. It’s that consent that creates “consensus reality”. A reality that is defined by people agreeing on what is real.

My guess is this is why we are seeing so much divisiveness thrown out from the agents of empire and their court scribes. We are being fed a deliberately confusing storyline. I don’t say this with conspiratorial jest. It is a well documented strategy of those in power. A divided, and confounded, populace is an easily controlled populace.

So for me, I’ve been extra careful not to give any energy to a narrative that feels like it is demonizing my neighbors. People are notoriously complex. There is a lot of nuance to human motivations. So this means I am giving out heaping doses of grace and compassion to those who hold differing beliefs.

The ability to map polarity is an essential tool to navigating the current landscape. Mapping polarity means you look at the extremes of the competing narratives and you find the resolution point. Then we view reality from that place. The fulcrum. Mapping polarity has the added benefit of taking your personal power back if it had been hijacked by one of the competing storylines.

So tools for thriving this month are as follows:

  • Do not crystallize around a narrative or "fact". Especially if it exists on the far end of a polarity.

  • Offer compassion to others. It’s been a really tough year and we are all doing the best we can from our level of perspective.

  • One way to feel the truth in your body is the “yes no test”. To do this, hold something you love in your awareness. Say yes, then say no. Feel how each of those feel in your body. This clues you into what truth physically feels like.

  • Unplug.

  • Get your feet on the ground. Spend time in nature.

  • Stay active, exercise.

  • Be productive around things that are a contribution to your wellness. Organize a closet, take salt baths, surround yourselves with people who love you.

  • Eat root vegetables, add grounding foods to your diet.

  • Find embodiment practices that work for you.

If someone were asking me, how should I approach the coming Virgo Moon cycle? My answer would be to really begin to anchor truth and realness into the body.

Because Uranus is making a connection to this new moon, our nervous system may get pulled out of range. The new moon happens while the Mars Neptune opposition is still active. So I expect there to be a nervous system event for me. Embodiment practices help us tend to our nervous systems.

I'll stop here. There a number of significant transits this month. I'll break things down in detail as they happen.

Her passion for this existential detective work aligns well with her unique approach to one on one client work, as she helps others to discover the building blocks of their archetypal blueprint, and mythic overtones. She does not believe that astrology is static, and therefore works with clients to develop strategies and practices that allow them to transcend challenging aspects of their natal chart.

She lives on the Shores of Lake Erie with her husband, four kids, and Cat, Oscar (the grouch).

These days, when she isn’t interpreting a natal chart, or translating the stars for her astrology blog, you can find her engaging in one of her favorite pandemic pastimes, unraveling her inner “good girl”, cultivating the ability to thrive in the deep, dark, unknown, or playing her favorite game of identifying fun paradoxes called “two things are true at once”.
