Mercury’s Sacred Gift

SACRED GIFT

Sun moved into Gemini @ 9:22 pm on 5/20

Today Mercury is Cazimi (conjunct) the Sun at 3:17 pm, at 00° Gemini. Approximately half way through his retrograde journey.

Cazimi comes from the Arabic term for “in the heart of the Sun”

It is the beginning of a new Mercury cycle. This time, being planted in his own sign. We can see this piece of the cycle as analogous to a New Moon. Giving us the opportunity to do Mercury Magic, by planting and nurturing Mercurial Seeds.

Dane Rudhyar explains a bit about Gemini when he says this: “Taurus represents relationships through the roots of the being, defined by a common bondage to the earth,” and that we can then understand the next kind of [Gemini] “unifying relationship, relationship through air, which all living organisms breathe. Air unites our basic mode of expression-speech-and airwaves”

He goes on to explain how all living organisms breathe the same air. Whatever may seemingly separate us is actually united through the process of breathing. All disparities (dualities) collapse when we consider the significance of how air moves and is utilized in our atmosphere. We breathe the same air as both saints and criminals.

(My natal Mercury is in Philosophical Sagittarius, can you tell )

Both Gemini and the ruler of Gemini, Mercury, represent the intellect. The principle that “all is mind”. And through that principle of intellect is “implied dualism”. The duality found at the root of all intellectual processes.

In retrograde, at the cazimi point, Mercury, acts as psychopomp, bringing us messages from the cosmos. Moving between worlds, he opens a direct channel to different dimensions.

A new idea, a new inspiration, a missing piece to a project you’ve been contemplating, may begin to percolate in our awareness.

It is a magic point, a point in time to bend our ears to silent the whispers of the Great Beyond.

Besides our Luminaries, Mercury is the fastest moving planet in the zodiac. Likewise the element of air denotes mobility.

Because of the emphasis of movement present in the cosmos, it is important to gather all of the disparate pieces of data spiraling around us and channel them into a process of grounded synthesis.

In other words how do all of the synchronicities, symbols, and mundane events, converge to create meaning for us? Mercury Cazimi in Gemini can assist us in gathering clues as the Sun moves through this illustrious sign that ultimately helps us fuse and collate information.

What disparate pieces of information are in your field right now? Name them. As the month moves on, see how they can be synthesized with the help symbols and synchronicities to reveal the message, the Sacred Gift, the Cosmos has sent you.

THE INSIDE DEGREE for Mercury Cazimi

GEMINI 1

Knots in a cord. They are a message in code.

Coming up against limits. Aware of what is not. Inhabiting a bittersweet combination of longing and the quickening of awareness. What is sought and desired being indefinitely held away. Cross purposes between the greater self and the little one. The little one will not have it. Reactivities, tangents, and compulsions. Going through cycles of a very extreme kind. Always self-critical. Pressurized and suspicious. And yet you move through all of this as quickly and as sharply as is desired or sought. Arbitrary self-will stops the flow and a reversal of emphasis starts it moving again. Trials, ordeals, initiations, exile, and return.

(Inside degrees is a divination system channeled by Elias Lonsdale. It covers each degree of the Zodiac)

Damascena Tanis

Damascena is an Archetypal Astrologer, Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner, and The Facilitator of the Transformative Journey through the Mandala of Venus’ Wisdom, called “Sky Dancer”.

She is a passionate devotee of the ever unfolding mystery. As an expert observer, a trait she developed as an only child, she regards herself as both a student of life, and decoder of the cosmos.

Skilled at recognizing invisible patterns, and picking up on subtle shifts in the collective, she gets a thrill from uncovering and revealing the hidden threads that are woven together to create our paradigm.

Her passion for this existential detective work aligns well with her unique approach to one on one client work, as she helps others to discover the building blocks of their archetypal blueprint, and mythic overtones. She does not believe that astrology is static, and therefore works with clients to develop strategies and practices that allow them to transcend challenging aspects of their natal chart.

She lives on the Shores of Lake Erie with her husband, four kids, and Cat, Oscar (the grouch).

These days, when she isn’t interpreting a natal chart, or translating the stars for her astrology blog, you can find her engaging in one of her favorite pandemic pastimes, unraveling her inner “good girl”, cultivating the ability to thrive in the deep, dark, unknown, or playing her favorite game of identifying fun paradoxes called “two things are true at once”.
