Moon Venus at the Solar Plexus Chakra at the Gate of Personal Power

Art by Dhira

On May 26th at 11:00 pm, Venus meets the Moon at the Solar Plexus Gateway of Personal Power at 28° Aries.

In my Planetary Chakra system, Mars rules the Solar Plexus, and Mars also rules Aries. Giving us a nice resonance to the energetic current this gateway holds.

Mars rules our relationship to power. Both how we behave “under” the power of someone/something else, and our own personal power. He rules our will, action, ability, anger, aggression, assertiveness. The Archetype of the Hero/Warrior. The Red King

In our psyche, he rules the basic features of the masculine, making up one half of the poles between yin and yang, Masculine and Feminine, with Venus holding the opposite Pole.

The Solar Plexus is ruled by the element of Fire, and relates to our purpose, and will. It’s intention is Transformation.

It deals with mundane issues of:

  • Energy

  • Activity

  • Autonomy

  • Individuation

  • Will

  • Self Esteem

  • Proactivity

  • Power

It’s part of where our ego identity is housed.

It’s developmental task is to help us realize our separateness, and establish autonomy.

When it is balanced, we are: Responsible, reliable, balanced, effective will and action, good self esteem, balanced ego strength, confidence, warmth of personality, appropriate self-discipline, sense of one’s personal power, ability to meet challenge.

A deficiency results in; low energy, weak will, being easily manipulated, poor self discipline, and follow through, low self esteem, victim mentality, blaming others, wet/soggy personality type.

In deficiency, it asks us to be in action, to live out loud, and to have assertiveness as we move through the world. To be more Yang.

In Excess it is; overly aggressive, dominating, controlling, a need to be right, have the last word, manipulative, power hungry, deceitful, temper tantrums, violent outbursts, stubbornness? Arrogant, competitive.

In excess we are being asked to open, and be in a state of receptivity, to focus on connection and allowing. To be more yang.

It’s absolutely possible to deficient in some areas, and be excessive in others.

Interestingly it is Venusian like themes that help balance an overactive Mars, and one might argue, an under active Mars, is actually an overactive Venus.

With the Moon/Venus Gateway meeting in Mars’ sign we have an excellent opportunity to begin to bring balance to these poles on every single level. From physical, to energetic, to even looking into our psychological wounding between the masculine and feminine poles.

I know for myself, healing my own sense of victimhood at the hands of men, the dominator paradigm, structures of power and authority, out of balance power dynamics, is all up for me this month.

I need to move rage at real violation through my body. And let go of a multitude of misplaced projections that originated in childhood.

Aries represents the basic principles of selfhood, the spark of life, the doctrine of “I AM”.

It represents the innocence and purity of our first breathe. Before life heaps any additions onto us or causes subtractions.

It’s first and basic characteristic FIRE , which has been considered for thousands of years as the first element. Or the function to manifest in any cycle of organic activity. No cycle begins from nothing, there has been a cycle before. Fire is that which Pierce’s through the accumulated remains of the past.

Fire has the ability to transform matter, to penetrate crystallizations of the mind. It brings change, self renewal, birth and rebirth, and thus ultimately symbolizes transformations of all kinds. The release of of new life-energies which in due will create new forms.

According to ancient Indian philosophers, the Fire of Aries is The Fire that Transforms energy, striking from above and tearing open old forms, impregnating them with seeds of new life.

When I’m synthesizing signs and symbols, I always look for what the repeating patterns are to interpret the underlying message the cosmos has for us at this time.

We are getting a clear signal that that the themes that Mars rules are up for transformation.

And we may play with Lunar/Venusian energy to help mediate or balance and overactive Mars/Solar Plexus. Likewise, we may lean on, and cultivate Martian themes and energy to help balance an under active Solar Plexus.

I’m absolutely loving the way these energies have so simply, and beautifully woven together.

I’ve recently been exploring how Mars expresses/manifests in my own my own mind/body/soul. And what a complicated relationship I’ve had to Him. I’ve swung wildly between deficient and excessive, while rarely finding myself in balance for wide swathes of time.

One reminder when with working with the Venus Cycle and the Gateways of Descent:

I don’t present this information as a need to effort, fix, mend, diagnose, or pathologize.

But rather to observe, engage, be inquiry around, feel into, play with, experiment with, the energies all as a way of coming into greater contact with our humanity. To have a greater sense of inner gnosis, and our own operating system.

Like the love stories found in great epics across time these energies/archetype help us know ourselves more deeply through the anima and animus. The interplay between Venus and Mars, Feminine and Masculine, Yin and Yang, us how we can balance these two seemingly opposing forces.

She is a passionate devotee of the ever unfolding mystery. As an expert observer, a trait she developed as an only child, she regards herself as both a student of life, and decoder of the cosmos.

Skilled at recognizing invisible patterns, and picking up on subtle shifts in the collective, she gets a thrill from uncovering and revealing the hidden threads that are woven together to create our paradigm.

Her passion for this existential detective work aligns well with her unique approach to one on one client work, as she helps others to discover the building blocks of their archetypal blueprint, and mythic overtones. She does not believe that astrology is static, and therefore works with clients to develop strategies and practices that allow them to transcend challenging aspects of their natal chart.

She lives on the Shores of Lake Erie with her husband, four kids, and Cat, Oscar (the grouch).

These days, when she isn’t interpreting a natal chart, or translating the stars for her astrology blog, you can find her engaging in one of her favorite pandemic pastimes, unraveling her inner “good girl”, cultivating the ability to thrive in the deep, dark, unknown, or playing her favorite game of identifying fun paradoxes called “two things are true at once”.
