SUN TRINE JUPITER

The Sun at 21 degrees Libra is in an Applying trine to Jupiter in Aquarius. Active through October 19th

Before we comment on this combination, we remember that Saturn is exalted in Libra, so there is a Saturnian influence in the place of the Sun, and Saturn rules Aquarius, so equally, there is Saturnian influence in the house where Jupiter currently sits. We spoke yesterday about Saturn’s impulse towards the contemplative, and mystical initiation that serves our Karmic path. And we recall that air signs are of the nature of intellect, “ALL IS MIND”.

In Astrology the Sun represents our Spirit, and the Eternal Heart Wisdom that comes from having a deep, mystical, relationship to divinity. It is the vital force within a person that gives them life, energy, and power.

Jupiter represents our poetic, philosophical, and autodidactic capacity. The impulse to educate oneself about the nature of reality and truth. And how the deeper world around us really works. Jupiter asks us to gather disparate data points to create our own body of wisdom. It is the archetype of the renaissance person. Expanding our horizons in all directions.

In his shadow form, he allows his higher education to compel him towards hubris, and false confidence. He becomes crystalized around his knowledge, and relies on certainty and scientific data rather than curiosity and intellectual fluidity. The challenge in air signs is to bring knowledge and wisdom down from the mind and into the body. To add the data points of instinct, and sensation to logic and rationale.

When Jupiter combines with the Sun, it helps us to grow and advance our spiritual life. To comprehend its nature, and its relationship to the deeper reality around us. It is a very romantic, and even artful combination. Not romantic in the way lovers are. But in the way that we can wax poetic about the world around us, see the magical essence of something behind the mundane.

Sun trine Jupiter can help us expand beyond our technology saturated existence, to see past our illusory borders of safety and exclusivity. It helps us define ourselves beyond pervasive commerce, and the almost mandatory over consumerism. It can set upon us a moment of rededication to the bigger, deeper, thing.

Jupiter trine Sun pushes us towards the ontological questions. Who am I? What is my place in the wider cosmos? What is my purpose? And how do I seek and find the greater truths beyond just reason and logic?

As we move through the Sun trine Jupiter Portal remember that the most revolutionary adventure of all is to choose a life of spiritual development and meaningful service. Most people spend their lives strategizing to conceal themselves from the world. For the spiritually alive human being this is not an option. Full and unreserved engagement is the only way to willfully shape reality. There is nothing random. We chose everything that shows up in our experience to serve our evolution. We need to expand our capacity to see beyond what is showing up in the immediate and see exactly how it serves the deeper thing we came here for.

With all this in mind the current Astrology is asking us to reinspect the philosophical treatise of our society. To review our mutual understandings. What choices are in the best interest of our collective humanity? What is best for the next generation? For our children? What direction are the sweeping technological advances taking us in? Is it time to audit our agreements around “progress”? All this and more is coming up for our contemplation. Carve out time to sit with your own philosophical beliefs. Refine if necessary.

Damascena Tanis

Damascena is an Archetypal Astrologer, Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner, and The Facilitator of the Transformative Journey through the Mandala of Venus’ Wisdom, called “Sky Dancer”.

She is a passionate devotee of the ever unfolding mystery. As an expert observer, a trait she developed as an only child, she regards herself as both a student of life, and decoder of the cosmos.

Skilled at recognizing invisible patterns, and picking up on subtle shifts in the collective, she gets a thrill from uncovering and revealing the hidden threads that are woven together to create our paradigm.

Her passion for this existential detective work aligns well with her unique approach to one on one client work, as she helps others to discover the building blocks of their archetypal blueprint, and mythic overtones. She does not believe that astrology is static, and therefore works with clients to develop strategies and practices that allow them to transcend challenging aspects of their natal chart.

She lives on the Shores of Lake Erie with her husband, four kids, and Cat, Oscar (the grouch).

These days, when she isn’t interpreting a natal chart, or translating the stars for her astrology blog, you can find her engaging in one of her favorite pandemic pastimes, unraveling her inner “good girl”, cultivating the ability to thrive in the deep, dark, unknown, or playing her favorite game of identifying fun paradoxes called “two things are true at once”.
